Defrost the codfish. Meanwhile, prepare the sauce: peel and wash the onion and the garlic cloves, chop them roughly, put them in a pan, add the olive oil and heat, stirring occasionally, until golden brown. Then add the peeled tomatoes with the sauce, season with salt and pepper and cook, stirring occasionally, until soft. Remove from the heat, add some basil leaves, adjust the seasoning, puree, and set aside. Boil the codfish in water with the bay leaf and peppercorns, then drain it, remove the skins and bones, and flake it. Separately, boil the lasagne sheets in water seasoned with salt, remove them, and leave them to cool in cold water.
Peel and wash the onions and garlic cloves, cut the onions into thin half-moons, and chop the garlic. Heat the olive oil in a pan and add the onion and garlic and fry, stirring occasionally, until golden brown. Then add the codfish, stir, add the port, and cook a little longer until the alcohol has evaporated.
Adjust the seasoning, remove from the heat, place a little on each lasagne sheet, roll up and place on a tray or platter. Drizzle with the tomato sauce and serve the Codfish rolls garnished to taste, for example with chopped basil.
