Codfish steaks with Port wine

Two classic Portuguese ingredients: Codfish steaks and Port wine. Shall we try? Ready to cook, ready to enjoy!

 

Ingredients

4 codfish steaks
400 g white sweet potatoes
400 g orange sweet potatoes
100 ml olive oil
150 ml Port wine
1 large onion
3 garlic cloves
1 carrot, grated
1 beaten egg
Coriander to taste
Salt and pepper to taste
Flour for coating
Kitchen paper

Preparation

Two classic Portuguese ingredients: Codfish steaks and Port wine. Shall we try?

Wash and slice the sweet potatoes. Place the slices on a baking tray. Season with chopped garlic, salt and pepper and bake at 180°C in a pre-heated oven for about 35 minutes.

In the meantime, remove the bones, cut the codfish steaks into halves and dry them using kitchen paper. Season with pepper and then coat the codfish steaks with flower, followed by beaten egg. Fry on both sides in hot olive oil and set to the side.

After removing half of the olive oil from the pan, fry the onion, peeled and cut into wedges, and the grated carrot, while stirring. Pour the Port wine, check the seasoning, mix and cook until the alcohol evaporates.

Lay the potatoes on a serving plate, add the codfish, top with the Port wine mixture and sprinkle with chopped coriander.

Your Codfish with Port wine is ready. Serve immediately.
